On March 15, The Kempe Foundation will honor two individuals at our signature Imagine 2018 Luncheon – Reggie Bicha and Linda Alvarado. Both of this year’s honorees are commended for their dedication to children through professional and personal accomplishments and commitments. We are grateful to have both of these individuals as long-time supporters of Kempe and leaders in our community.
2018 Kempe Professional Award Honoree Reggie Bicha serves as the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Human Services. Since his appointment to this role in 2011, Mr. Bicha has engaged in bold initiatives to redesign and refocus the delivery of human services. Under his leadership, CDHS has attracted national attention for its innovation and leadership. In addition, Mr. Bicha has led major advances in the delivery of child welfare services, established a statewide mental health crisis response system, retooled juvenile justice using trauma-informed approaches and employed a 2Gen approach to fight poverty. Mr. Bicha is being recognized for his unparalleled commitment to human services and to the health and well-being of our local community.
2018 Kempe Imhoff Family Community Award Honoree Linda Alvarado is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Alvarado Construction, Inc. In addition to her many professional accomplishments in the commercial construction industry, Ms. Alvarado is actively involved in supporting a number of charitable organizations, many of which are dedicated to the well-being and advancement of children and families. She is also dedicated to opening doors and increasing opportunities for women and people of all ethnic backgrounds to enter new careers. She is a passionate supporter of the work of Kempe and well deserving of this honor.
Congratulations to this year’s honorees – we thank you for your passion and dedication to Kempe’s mission to keep all children safe and healthy by supporting experts in the field, advocating for children and engaging with communities. And we look forward to celebrating you on March 15!

This year’s signature luncheon will take place on March 15, 2018 at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Denver. The luncheon honors Kempe as a Center of Excellence in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect, and inspires community action to keep children safe and healthy for generations to come.
We are thrilled to welcome keynote speaker, Steve Pemberton, Chief Human Resources Officer, Globoforce & Best Selling Author of “A Chance in the World.”
Steve’s story is about defying seemingly insurmountable odds to overcome abuse and neglect as a child in foster care. He has since become a trail-blazing corporate executive, enlightened diversity leader, acclaimed speaker and visionary advocate for youth.

Thank you to everyone who supported Kempe on Sept. 9 at the Downtown Aquarium Wine Fest. Hundreds of individuals attended to mingle with winery representatives from California at this afternoon of wine tasting, appetizers and live entertainment. Proceeds from the silent auction and a portion of ticket sales benefited Kempe.
On Saturday, April 22, during Kempe Imagine – a signature dinner event honoring the 45-year history of Kempe and celebrating its vision for the future – Kempe was proud to recognize three individuals as the 2017 Kempe Honor Award winners.
In honor of his 40-year career dedicated to keeping children and families safe, healthy and supported, Kempe awarded David Olds, Ph.D. the 2017 Kempe Professional Award. Dr. Olds is Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver where he directs the Prevention Research Center for Family and Child Health. He is also the creator of the Nurse-Family Partnership Program, a leading model in maternal-child health programs being implemented in communities across the country. His dedication to the field is unparalleled and we are grateful for all he has done in support of children and families.
For their similar passion for causes devoted to children and education, Kempe recognized Blair and Kristin Richardson as the 2017 Imhoff Family Community Award winners. For 22 years, Blair and Kristin have demonstrated a philanthropic commitment to the Denver community contributing their time, talent and treasure to numerous organizations and causes. The values of the Richardson family and their foundation are aligned with the importance of family, community building and providing opportunity to all children regardless of economic circumstances. We are grateful for their ongoing support of Kempe and other like-minded organizations.
