In 2008, Colorado's first Child Protection Team celebrated 50 years of treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect. We are proud to continue the legacy of Dr. C. Henry Kempe and everyone since who has worked to advance the important cause of protecting children and strengthening families.
The Kempe Child Protection Team is the only hospital-based multidisciplinary child abuse program in Colorado. The Kempe Child Protection Team mission is to offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary consultation, assessment, treatment, and referral services for children and adolescents who may have been physically or sexually abused or neglected. Sensitive care is provided by dedicated clinicians to help community identify, treat and console child abuse victims and their families. Based at Children's Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado School of Medicine, we train medical, nursing, social work, and mental health professionals so that our research and knowledge can help more children across the state, region and beyond. Our physicians are among the first in the country to be board-certified in the field of Child Abuse Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
