Child Abuse Facts

What Should I Do if I Suspect Child Abuse or Neglect?

Anyone can and should report suspected child abuse or neglect. If you think a child is being mistreated, take immediate action. Most states have a toll-free number for reporting. You can also call Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1.800.4.A.Child (1.800.422.4453). When you call to make a report, you will be asked for specific information.

We can all help prevent child abuse by recognizing the risk factors, protecting children who are at risk and supporting families who are experiencing stressors. Reporting the situation may protect the child and get additional help for the family.
