Annual Report FY09
We never lose hope that we can help prevent child abuse and help children who need us. Our resolve helps us do more with less. In this time of shrinking budgets and demand for more services, we simply challenge ourselves to find ways to help more children and families recover from the trauma of abuse and neglect. The Kempe Center treated over 700 children, trained and consulted with over 4,500 professionals, and produced 25 major publications and presentations for the academic and public sectors. The Kempe Foundation completed its $12.7 million Capital Campaign and relocation to The Gary Pavilion at The Children’s Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The move enables Kempe’s renowned faculty and staff to join their colleagues from the University of Colorado Denver—School of Medicine, The Children’s Hospital, and Department of Pediatrics to continue building a world class center to integrate child abuse focused clinical care, treatment research, training, public outreach and advocacy. Let’s continue to work together to make victims of abuse and neglect a priority. We know that investing now in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect leads to a better quality of life for those affected by it and leads to huge economic savings to society. |
