We are pleased to announce Julia Stone has been promoted to President and COO. She will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and will provide insight on planning and decision making. John Faught will remain CEO of the Foundation, focusing on advocacy and strategic direction. Stone has been with the Foundation since October of 2012.

“For the past six years, I have seen firsthand how the fundraising and advocacy work of the Kempe Foundation directly impacts the lives of children and families here in Colorado and across the country,” says Stone. “In this new role I look forward to collaborating with our key partners, government agencies, other nonprofits and our community to grow our programs and reach.”

Since joining the Foundation, Stone has been integral to a variety of accomplishments. She addressed financial challenges early on by streamlining costs and improving efficiency. She has also supported Kempe’s facility at the Gary Pavilion, providing an effective and energizing space for the work of the Kempe Center professionals and Foundation staff. Most recently, Stone assisted with finalizing a partnership with the Haruv Institute of Israel to create the International Journal on Child Maltreatment: Research, Policy and Practice.

“Julia has done outstanding work for the Kempe Foundation and I have no doubt she will continue to do so as our president,” said CEO John Faught. “Her expertise and dedication have allowed us to find innovative ways to prevent child abuse and neglect by supporting experts, advocating for children and engaging communities.”
